Denise Robins (1897- 1985) was a romantic writer of British origin, she has written over 160 novels. She has also known as the “Queen of Romance” for her extremely touching romantic novels. The protagonist in her books lied in the age group of the early twenties to middle age; the settings of her novels were in several different places like London, Egypt, Sri Lanka, Swiss mountains and Morocco.

The book is about the story of a girl who is sold in West Indies as a slave, she then is rescued only from being a victim again; she finally falls in love with a guy and marries her. The man she loved mistreats her, which makes her run away and seek vengeance.

The book will help you differentiate what is more important love or vengeance; you will understand which one to seek and why.

The protagonist falls in love with her employer and later finds out that she has to compete with her own sister for that love. The sadness of her life is compared to cry of a seagull in the book which is really nice.
