End of Watch: A Novel (The Bill Hodges Trilogy)

The final installment is here at last and its Stephen King at his very best and shows why he is a master when it comes to storytelling.With multi-layered meaning, nuanced settings, Stephen King certainly does not disappoint as he takes horror to a whole new level. The book is surreal in the sense the story that’s featured here can find an echo in what’s happening today with the blue whale app. The story takes up where the last installment left Hodges, in a hospital bed. And as he recovers slowly from his injuries, he realizes that he has managed to pick up new talents and soon the infamous Mr. Mercedes comes into the picture. The book manages to ratchet up the tension with every page so that you are soon hooked to the events playing out, to the last page. A definite must read and one of the top 10 trilogies to come out this year.

The story shows just how the human spirit can stand up to unbeatable odds and still overcome the impossible. The story has been wonderfully crafted from start to finish and showcases the author’s exemplary skill and talent. Truthwitch: A Witchlands Novel

Finally, the next book in the series is out and as one reviewer put it, “a masterful storyteller doing what she does best”. The tale is indeed loaded with suspense, intrigue, fantasy and of course, witches as the title gives it away. Think shades of Harry potter with Tolkein in the mix and you would have this series down to a T. The book paints a rather bleak picture of the world that young witches have to face, the insurmountable odds facing them as they set out on their quest. And before you know it, you are hooked to the last page. The plot is detailed with strong characters and of course the requisite twists. A definite page turner which is why it is one of the top 10 trilogies of 2016

Percy Jackson and the Olympians 5 Book Paperback Boxed Set

While this series is not exactly a trilogy since there are about five books in the series, it certainly deserves to be added to the list for all the right reasons. This series does the impossible by taking greek mythology and making it fun to read. The whole series revolves around Percy Jackson, an offspring of one of the Olympians and the rest of the story revolves around him and his friends as they try to save the world from Impending disaster. Quite well written without the heavy prose which often characterizes Greek Mythology, masterfully developed with strong characters and plausible storylines, which is why it qualifies as one of the best books to read.

The Glittering Court

The Glittering court is the third installment in this romantic series, and closely follows the lives of three women as they face up to the challenges in the quest for true love. The book is replete with strong and bold characters, a detailed and plausible plot line, and filled with intrigue, secrets and betrayal, it is indeed a fitting third installment to the trilogy series and does not disappoint. If you were in the market for a good romantic trilogy, then you definitely need to read this one; moreover it stands out as one of the top 10 trilogies for this year.

The City of Mirrors: A Novel (Book Three of The Passage Trilogy)

The third book in the passages trilogy has been wonderfully crafted, with resurgent and bold characters, strong storyline and twists and turns that should keep you parked to the spot as you read the book. A masterpiece indeed and even though the book is based on fantasy fiction, it nevertheless brings to the fore the close connections between the dystopian reality and modern society today. This trilogy is as good as it gets when it comes to dystopian reality induced themes, with its unremitting drive of the narrative and vivid imagery and a stunning achievement in every way possible. The Last Star: The Final Book of The 5th Wave

Spell binding, brilliant, exquisite – are some of the terms you can use to describe the last installment in the series. Rick has crafted the book beautifully, with tight prose, and ratcheting up the tension with every page, so that you are literally unable to put the book down without completing it. If you are into science fiction with a tad emotive content, then you definitely need to read this book. Three Dark Crowns

Blake’s brilliant word building makes this trilogy a pleasure to read; from strong characters, to twists and turns, it is no wonder that this series stands out for all the right reasons. The story revolves around three sisters, hidden powers and a single crown; the rest of the story follows the battle for the crown and the immediate aftermath. With brilliant story weaving, Blake has definitely managed to hit the right notes and keep the readers interested to the last page. It should not come as a surprise that this series stands out as one of the book recommendations for the year.

Thief of Lies (Library Jumpers)

Book 1 in this fantasy trilogy certainly sets the stage for an epic series and a finale that should not be missed out on. This is Brenda Drake’s debut novel and as such, it is an exemplary work, wonderfully crafted with strong story line, vivid descriptions, and visceral imagery. The story revolves around a young girl and her friends who get transported to another library in another dimension through a gateway book. What follows after that, sets the stage for the series as a whole. Brenda has developed the book beautifully with fast paced narrative, with tension ratcheting up page by page. In the end, you are left wanting more, with more library books due to come out soon in the series. If you were looking for fantasy filled fiction, with romance in the wings, then you would definitely need to read this book, and it sure stands out as one  of the top 10 trilogies of 2016
