It is situated at the west side of the Mediterrannian sea. The name of the city has come from the Arabian word which means the islands. The city has a rich past where they were invaded by ottoman followed by the French. Then came the Algerian war where they faught for independence.The Ottoman rule started with 1516 and came to an end in the year 1816 when the Britishers bombarded the city. Following this was the French rule that started in the year 1830 and it came to an end in the year 1962 after the bloody war took place in which many people gave up on their lives.
