Howard Phillips Lovecraft or H. P. Lovecraft was an American writer. He received posthumous fame for his iconic horror fiction works. The writer, during his time, was only published in the pulp magazine. The American writer was never able to support himself through the earnings as a writer and editor.

He died due to malnutrition and cancer in the small intestine. There have been many works. However, only the best have made it to the list of top 10 books by H. P. Lovecraft.

The Mountains of Madness

Another great story from the author. The story begins when the expeditions by the Miskatonic University find mysterious fossils in the barren lands of Antarctic, which was thought to be inhabited. What’s more is that there are million-year-old stone carvings.

Read it For:
This is one of those stories which could only be written by Lovecraft.
Don't Read it For:
This book is written beautifully.
