Liane Moriarty was born on 15 November 1966 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. She has a younger sister Jaclyn Moriarty who is an author. After completing her school, she worked in the field of advertising and marketing at a legal publishing firm. Then she started her own company and ran it for a while before taking up as a freelance advertising copywriter. In 2004, she published her first novel Three Wishes, after obtaining her master’s degree from Macquarie University in Sydney, written as part of the degree. Till now 6 novels have been published in her name.

Currently, she lives in Sydney with her husband; they have two children, George and Anna.
