This book, composed of three parts was Tolstoy’s attempts to bring fore the horrors of the Crimean war to his audience. It contains some of the most realistic descriptions of the Crimean war. Tolstoy did indeed take part in this war and this book provides you with a gritty, firsthand account of the war with visceral scenes. This book certainly stands out for all the right reasons which is why it is tagged as one of Leo Tolstoy’s best books.
