Five weeks in a balloon

This is one of Jules Verne’s early works but it still manages to outshine the rest by its sheer scope and vivid imagery. The story revolves around three Englishmen who embark on an adventure across Africa. This book was developed at a time when most of Africa remained undiscovered and as a result, this adventure novel was considered to be a guide of sorts for travel into the Dark Continent by many. The visceral imagery used by Verne makes this book stand out for all the right reasons which is why it is one of the top 10 books by Jules Verne.
